2024 was another great year for us. We released 6 new *big* features and made several UX improvements and upgrades. Let's review together all the features and UX improvements we released this year—all designed to help you uncover the power of real-time data!
Features
You can now set up custom statuses and workflows for your experiments and define custom roles to be assigned at each stage. You can enforce how many signatures are required to progress and what actions users can do at each stage (i.e. edit vs comment only).
We introduced a more advanced version of our spreadsheet plugin, which allows for graphing, conditional formatting, multiple sheets, and more!
You can now configure resource categories so that resources within them are automatically given a unique auto-generated identifier. The identifier can be used alongside a descriptive name or instead of a name for those resources that don't need a name.
Filter Resources by Custom Metadata Fields
You can now filter your resources by the value of certain metadata fields by clicking the column header and selecting 'Filter by this field'. Combine multiple filters with AND/OR logic.
You can now configure protocols so that users can only edit certain fields when executing the protocol.
New versions of protocols now exist in a 'Draft' mode before they are 'Set Live' to ensure people only ever use a finalised version in experiments and to prevent drafts being locked during edit sessions. Configure which roles have permissions to draft new versions and set drafts live.
UX Improvements
Organisation Members Management
We made life easier for Organization admins who can now:
Instantly create user accounts in bulk and start assigning them roles and workspaces.
Manage the members of workspaces from the admin dashboard without having to enter the workspace.
Edit the role of users in bulk
Add users to workspaces in bulk
Disable users in bulk
Workspace Overview Page Revamp
We rearranged the workspace overview page to make better use of space and prioritise the elements people use the most.
Workspace Settings Revamp
We redesigned and reorganized the workspace settings page to put all the settings related to each module together.
Bulk Create Sub-Locations
You can now create sub-locations in bulk by entering multiple names into the box, separated by commas.
Upgrades
Permissions Layer
We upgraded the engine behind our permissions system, making it even more robust and ensuring users can only perform actions permitted by their role.
Chemistry Tool
We updated our integrated Chemical Drawing tool, Ketcher, from v2.5 to v2.20, bringing a cleaner UI, a host of bug fixes, and new features.
Jupyter
We upgraded to the latest version of JupyterHub, which brings performance improvements, bug fixes, and increased stability.
