We are excited to announce several new features and improvements to the LIMS side of Labstep. These updates are designed to make it easier for you to track and manage your lab supplies. If you're not using the Inventory module yet, now is the perfect time to start!
New Item Import System
We have introduced a new item import system that allows you to import all of your items, including locations, amounts, and custom metadata fields, in bulk. The new import system can import items from CSV or XSLX files. You can now import more metadata field types (such as numeric fields, options fields and date fields), and the fields will be validated before import. You can also monitor the progress of your import in real-time.

We've also extended the same new import system to resources and devices.
Editable Grid View for Items
We've introduced a new grid view for managing your items. Now you can:
Customise which columns you see
Edit fields inline in the grid
Navigate between cells with your keyboard just like a spreadsheet
Copy and Paste between cells
Drag cells to fill values
Export to CSV straight from the grid (right-click to access that menu!)
You'll also notice the same grid view has been rolled out to the resources, devices, and requests pages!
Advanced Filtering for Items
We have also added advanced filtering capabilities for items. This allows you to filter items by specific metadata fields, making it easier to navigate extensive inventories. From the Item View page, you'll be able to choose from the Item or Resource metadata field to filter your Inventory.
💡How to Get Started
To get started with the new inventory management features, simply login to your Labstep account and click on the "Inventory" tab. You will then see the new import system, grid view, and filtering options.
We hope you find these new features helpful!
