Collections are another great way of keeping your workspace organised. Similar to the folders on your laptop, this will save you time when navigating through your experiments and protocols list.

Creating a new collection for your Experiments/Protocols:

1. Navigate to the Experiments or Protocols page

2. Click on 'New Collection' at the top left-hand corner of your screen

3. Name your brand-new Collection

4. Click on 'Create'

5. Your new Collection will now be visible when you access the workspace

Labstep team tip: Use collections to filter through your experiments/protocols list and group similar content together.

Adding Experiments/Protocols to a collection:

1. Navigate to the Experiments or Protocols page

2. Select the box next to the experiment(s)/protocol(s) of your choice

3. Click on 'Add to collection'

4. Select the Collection you wish to add the experiment(s)/protocol(s) to

5. You can now view the experiment(s)/protocol(s) in your Collection

Labstep team tip: Clicking 'New Experiment' or 'New Protocol' when you are in a collection will automatically add the new experiment/protocol to the current Collection. Please note although experiments/protocols can be added to different Collections, they remain the same file. So if you edit an experiment/protocol from one Collection, it will update it in every other Collection it is in.

Removing an Experiment/Protocol from a collection:

1. Navigate to the Experiments or Protocols page

2. Select the box next to the experiment(s)/protocol(s) of your choice

3. Click on 'Remove from collection'

Labstep team tip: Removing an experiment/protocol from a collection does not delete it. To delete an experiment, click on the vertical ellipsis next to the experiment's name then click on 'Delete'.

Managing a collection:

To edit

1. Navigate to the Experiments or Protocols page

2. Click on the vertical ellipsis ⋮ icon to the right of your collection name

3. Select edit to edit its name, move it or add a sub-collection to it

4. Click on 'Save' or 'Submit' after each change

Labstep team tip: You can edit sub-collections the same way. Sub-collections are helpful if you want to separate experiments/protocols within the same collections.

To delete

1. Navigate to the Experiments or Protocols page

2. Click on the vertical ellipsis ⋮ icon to the right of your collection name

3. Click on 'Delete'

4. Click again on 'Delete' to confirm your choice

Labstep team tip: Deleting a collection will NOT delete the experiments added to it.
