Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security that helps protect your workspace from unauthorised access. By enabling 2FA for experiments, you will be required to enter a unique code from your authentication app when signing experiments. Please note that this is only for signing experiments; if you wish to set up 2FA for your whole organisation, please see this article.

Setting up 2FA at the Workspace level

You can set up 2FA specifically for signing experiments. This means that users must enter a code from a verified device when signing experiments. This is an extra compliance measure that can help ensure the integrity of your data.

Please note that enabling 2FA signatures is an important step for 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.

To set up 2FA to sign experiments:

  1. Navigate to Workspace Settings

  2. Click the experiments tab

  3. Toggle on the "Require 2FA to Sign"

Please note only the workspace Owner can set this up. If you would like this to be set up for a Workspace you are a member of, reach out to the Owner.

Enabling 2FA when signing experiments

If you have been instructed to set up 2fa before signing experiments, you will need to follow these steps:

  1. Go to the experiment you need to sign

  2. Click "Add Signature" – the Electronic Signature modal will open

  3. Click "Enable"

  4. Scan the QR code with your authentication app – we recommend Authenticator (Google or Microsoft)

  5. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator

  6. Click "Enable"

From now on, whenever you need to sign experiments, you will be prompted to enter the 6-digit code from your authentication app before you can sign.

Congratulations, you have successfully set up 2FA to sign experiments! This extra layer of security will help keep your workspace and experiments safe from unauthorised access.
