One for all and all for one! Now that your Inventory is fully set up and you know how to use it, it's time to further optimise its use in Labstep. When you are in an experiment, you can attach Inventory from any workspace you have access to. So, some people set up a single 'Inventory' workspace. If you have a larger team or only want specific people to access and manage the Inventory, we recommend you have a dedicated workspace to Inventory that you can then share with others.

How to Share Inventory Between Workspaces

You can share individual resources with another workspace, and this will include all the items.

You can also share a category with another workspace. However, this will just share the empty category and the templates.

If you want your entire Inventory to sync, you can use our Auto-sharing feature:

  • One way - Everything created in Workspace A will go to Workspace B

  • Two ways - If you want to share everything created in Workspace B to also appear in Workspace A, you will need to set up a second rule in Workspace B. You might want to also set up auto-sharing for the Locations if you are doing this.

Conclusion

In summary, integrating Inventory across workspaces offers a seamless approach to managing resources within experiments. Whether it's attaching Inventory from multiple workspaces or ensuring synchronisation between them, utilising sharing features can significantly enhance collaboration and streamline inventory management processes. By understanding these functionalities, you can optimise your workflow efficiency and ensure that items are readily accessible across different workspaces.
