As a digital lab notebook and scientific data management platform, Labstep is committed to ensuring the highest standards of data protection and privacy for its users. To achieve GDPR compliance, Labstep has implemented several measures, such as data security and privacy policies.

What is GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a European Union (EU) privacy law that came into effect on May 25, 2018. The GDPR regulates the way organisations collect, use, and process the personal data of EU citizens, regardless of where the organisation is located.

GDPR gives individuals more control over their personal data by requiring organisations to obtain explicit consent before collecting and processing their data. It also grants individuals the right to access, rectify, and delete their data, as well as the right to data portability. Organisations must obtain explicit consent before collecting and processing data, protect personal data, report data breaches, and can face significant fines for non-compliance.

Labstep's GDPR Compliance

Data Processing Agreements & Third-Party Providers

Labstep has established comprehensive data processing agreements with all its users and third-party service providers. This means that everyone involved in processing personal data - from the users to the third-party providers - complies with GDPR regulations.

User Consent & Control

Labstep is committed to ensuring that its users are aware of and in control of their personal data at all times. This includes providing clear information on how their data is collected, processed, and stored, as well as allowing them to delete their accounts and personal data whenever they choose to.

Data Security

Labstep has taken steps to protect its users' data from breaches and unauthorised access. This includes the implementation of encryption, the use of firewalls, and regular data backups.

Privacy Policy & Cookies

Labstep has drafted a thorough and transparent Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy to ensure complete transparency. This explains how personal data is collected and used, as well as what cookies are used on the platform.

GDPR Training

Labstep trains all its employees on GDPR so that they understand their responsibilities and can handle personal data effectively and in line with the regulations. Additionally, we have appointed a GDPR and Data officer to ensure we remain compliant at all times.

By implementing all the measures mentioned above, Labstep ensures that it is fully GDPR compliant and that its users can trust the platform to handle their personal data securely and responsibly. For more information on our data and security measures, click here.
